A New Take On A Nautical Nursery

NOPE this is not for me, not this time Satan😂! But I love a sweet nursery, that's why I thought I'd kick off my weekly design inspiration boards with one! This could easily be made for either gender, but I love the pop of yellow in the chair. It's not a glider, and honestly you don't need one (I find more of those for sale on Facebook Marketplace than I can count). A big comfy chair for nursing or folding little bitty onesies is well enough. And can you stand that porthole mirror?

I love using things that aren't specific for infants. That way the child can grow into the room.

And skip the baby-bedding-in-a-bag. You should not use bumpers and quilts anyways. I'm not even quite sure why they are still a thing. This awesome graphic sheet is good enough. Swaddle up your little sailor and he or she is good to go!

Every week I'll be posting a design board for all different types of rooms and spaces. I'm trying to keep these spaces affordable, obtainable, and DIY. The prices seen below were at the time I made this. Keep an eye out for sales, coupons, and discount codes to really get the best bang for your buck.

1. Davinci Fairway 3-in-1 Convertible Crib - Target.com - $249.00

Digging the light toned cerused wood look. Very washed and beach.

2. Jenny Lind Changing Dresser - Wayfair - $199.00
Jenny Lind Changing Dresser
This dresser/changing table fits in the smallest of spaces, and has just enough vintage detail without looking too traditional. Try swapping out the handles with silver knobs!

3. Strandmon Wing Chair - Ikea - $249.00

STRANDMON Wing chair IKEA You can really loosen up and relax in comfort because the high back on this chair provides extra support for your neck.
Have trouble pronouncing Ikea makes and models? You're not alone. Let's just call this the Big Yellow Chair. Insistent on a rocker? Etsy has a rocking conversion kit for this specific chair, check them out HERE!

4. Underwater Love Crib Sheet by Rookie Humans - Amazon - $34.99
As if your baby wasn't going to be Instagramable enough, let's just turn the entire crib into a photoshoot backdrop. That baby is too delicious too. THAT HAT! This works because of the minimal pops of color. Nothing working too hard against our yellow chair and other finishes.

5. WallsByMe Peel and Stick Nautical Wallpaper - Amazon - starting at $32.99

Price is going to depend here. But much like paint, that is always the case. You could do an accent wall behind the crib, you could do half the wall all the way around with some chair rail or wainscoting, or you could even do the ceiling or inside of the closet! Figure out the look you want and measure twice.

6. Tribal Design Tufted Area Rug - Target - $152.99 (on sale)

Finally some traditional navy blue! But this pattern and texture is anything but old. A bold pattern on the floor helps balance out the space and give texture to the lower half of this room. Works on hardwood floors or over an existing carpet, too.

7. 3-Light Beaded Semi Flush Mount - Amazon - $139.90

Depending on your room size and ceiling height of course. I find that minimal lighting in a nursery is best anyways. Install a dimmer switch and set it to low, so when you go to pop in babies room, you don't wake her with bright overhead light.

8. Porthole Mirror - Amazon - $74.99
I love a good porthole. This metallic finish brings a bit of an industrial feel into the space. Also a fun place to play peek-a-boo with baby.

Have any nursery questions? I'd love to here them!

What room should I tackle next?
