Photos: A House Update!

This week marks 8 months since we've moved into our 1921 late victorian in our hometown. Today also marks 8 months since we've started pouring sweat, blood, and tears (all quite literally) into this house.
It was far from bad shape but needed a lot of modernization and updating. Before we closed, we worked out a little plan for our first 3 months, which now makes me laugh because things seldom go as planned (especially with houses!).
Phase one, we'll call it, was supposed to be tiling the kitchen, moving some cabinets around, new appliances, and painting. What really happened was a partial reno, about 15 gallons of paint inside and out, new floors throughout the entire house, electrical work, and so many other unforeseen, and sometimes unfortunate issues.

I'm not sharing every room today, but some rooms I've never shared before. This is progress, more things are planned. But we know how that goes 😜.

There are so many spaces I've yet to photograph, like the kitchen, the two other bedrooms, front porch, exterior areas, and basement, but thats another post for another day. Please let me know what you think in the comments, I'd love some feedback! Thanks for stopping by!

A Room You Don't Mind Sharing

I decided that in this "four bedroom" house that I would have my two young children, ages 4 and 2, share a room. Why stick them together when we obviously have the space? A lot of reasons! It's been proven that kids actually do better in room sharing situtations, it's good for bonding. Also, it's easier for bed time. I can sit in with both kids at the same time instead of running from room to room. And best of all, I don't have to clean up two rooms anymore! We paired down on so much of their toys and clothes, too. That really helps live minimally and keeps the rooms peaceful.

MY KIDS LOVE ANIMALS. I know most kids do but my kiddos are obsessed. They watch Animal Planet over cartoons sometimes. So we went with a jungle theme. It's colorful, youthful, and stylish.

Two matching twin beds with mis-matched sheeting. It gives them a little bit of their own personality. The green palm leaf wallpaper brings energy into the space and anchors the two beds.

A Story of Two Rooms

I'm currently working on a project that includes two bedrooms that are getting a mini makeover. But there is nothing mini about the style!

The client already picked a paint color prior to our consult, so I had to start off with that. She had selected Flannel Gray by Behr. Both her room, and her neighboring sons room, are being painted the same color.
